TodayHe still looks peaky in this picture, and I swear he's more round in the tooshy area. Again, I took this picture with my blackberry, so maybe it did something weird. Or I'm in denial. He does look like he has a bit more muscling down along his butt.
The fancy-pants big money equine dentist is coming out next Monday, so hopefully we can get any underlying tooth issues taken care of right then. She comes VERY highly recommended (Sarah Metcalf, DVM) for those of you who may be interested. She travels....

He looks like he has more muscle in his butt.....Are you still doing the beet pulp/oil routine? I'm adding oil as of tomorrow to both my horses's diet. Beet pulp is doing it, but very slowly.
When I took Farley into today, Vet agreed and commented that she has put weight on in the 6 weeks since the teeth floating, but we both agreed she needs a tad more (you can still see rib!!!!). Why is it so hard to get a horse to gain weight? Everyone's else's horses around me are air ferns!
He does look like he has more muscling in his hindquarters but his croup on top looks a bit more pronounced than it did previously. How does that area feel to you? It is always hard to tell from photos, lighting and how the horse stands can affect things so much.
Definitely a more defined rump. Keeping weight on can be a challenge as you up your riding. I'm only pushing for 25 miles and now my previous "air fern" really requires some chow to just maintain. ~E.G.
hard keepers are just that. It's hard to tell from the photos but some increased muscling looks like it is occuring, albeit maybe slower than you want!
I just did a whole thing on my blog on nutrition. You might try the Empower product.... very high fat. My vet really liked it.
