Warm Butt

This week has been crazy for me--I had a complimentary and alternative medicine short course last weekend, and then took another supplementary dentistry course this week that involved a LOT of out of class time.  Then today, we had an orthopedic surgery lab that went almost all afternoon.  Needless to say, I haven't had much time for riding.

Yesterday, I managed to get in a ride.  My friend, Kristen, and Wayne came along and we rode around in the indoor arena.  I think I've been fairly successful in re-igniting Kristen's horse flame, and we're working on a way to bring her 8 year old unbroke paint over here to get her trained and started.  I'm just excited to have another person to go riding with!

When I ordered new tack for Wayne a week or so ago, I "accidentally" added a full western saddle sheepskin cover onto the the order.  I really have no idea how that happened, and in the exact color that I wanted! ;)  Anyways, with the onset of cooler weather, I've found it's been keeping my toosh extra warm, and am really looking forward to getting out on the trail with it tomorrow!

I had another great ride with Jasper tonight.  He's been dropping his inside shoulder when we circle to the left at the trot and canter, so we worked on that a lot.  I think it's at least partly my fault, as I discovered I'm dropping that left hip down as we're rounding the corners.  Once I realized it and stopped, it almost completely stopped the problem.  We trotted for a long time--he could have gone on for a long time, I'm sure.  He gets pooped at the canter pretty quick, but he'll set into a gear at the trot and go and go.  Yay!

We're all planning to go up to Moscow Mountain again tomorrow, but this time, I'm bringing my camera.  Updates to follow!
