I've been busy with finals this week, and the workload isn't looking like it's going to let up until Friday about 10:45-ish or so. I had Small Animal Surgery yesterday morning, which wasn't too bad, and Small Animal Medicine this morning (which also wasn't too bad). I have Epidemiology this afternoon, which is open book/open note/open laptop, so I'm hardly worked up about it. Tomorrow's Clinical Pharmacology, Thursday is Equine Medicine (which sounds a lot cooler than it actually is), and Friday is Ag Animal Medicine. All in all, I'm finding that my stress levels are not too bad this week, which is a big change from this time last year.
Jasper and I did a light and easy workout on Friday to help loosen him up and keep him loose. I worked with him a bit on some TTouch practices, and he really didn't seem to have any areas that were especially tight or sensitive, so that's a good thing. Saturday we did a more typical workout with 45 minutes of W/T/C. It was snowing pretty good on Saturday, so he had to focus while chunks of snow would fall off the tin roof. We also rode with another girl who's horse is afraid of EVERYTHING and won't go into the back half of the arena because it's "too scary for her." So she got Jasper all worked up, since she'd stop halfway across the arena rolling her eyes and snorting while her rider encouraged her to be afraid (and then allowed her to turn away and praised her and praised her). Gack! Her horse is a draft cross, for crying out loud!
It's been pretty cold (high of 10 today), and I've been terrible and haven't been out to the barn since Saturday. I'm planning to go out tomorrow, but with another final this afternoon, I just don't think I'll be able to swing it today. :(
Still not sure if I'm going to be able to take Jasper to Boise with me. I've been watching the roads pretty carefully and have decided if there is no fresh snow, I think I'll be able to do it if I drive slowly and carefully and take the long way. I've planned our entire break together, so I'd be bitterly disappointed if I couldn't bring him. I really really really want to start on our official endurance conditioning training while I'm there, as the temps are usually a bit warmer and the trails are much closer. We'll see. I've already warned Wayne I may leave on Sunday if it looks like the driving will be more conducive to horse-hauling.
